Library Instruction Description
In support of Chemeketa Community College's mission to "inspire people
to achieve intellectual growth, personal fulfillment and career success
through a lifetime of learning" (Chemeketa Community College Mission Statement),
reference librarians offer a range of library instruction in a variety
of formats. Types of instruction include the following:

One-on-one instruction

Group instruction
-
Audio-visual instruction
-
Internet-based instruction - For examples of web-based library handouts,
see Pathfinders.
Topics for instruction varies considerably depending on the subject matter
and information resource skills of the students. For example, instruction
topics have included the following:

A thirty minute walk around tour of the library for beginning English as
a second language students.

Two fifty-minute sessions covering topic selection, brainstorming keywords,
and searching for books and articles.
-
A fifty-minute session on print and electronic resources useful in developing
a business plan.

A fifty-minute on finding and evaluating Internet resources.
