Speech index, with supplement vol. REFERENCE COLLECTION 016.80885 Su8

Look up the subject or author you want. Each speech indexed has a short descriptive title, followed by one or more letter/number codes. (Example HIB:116.) The codes refer to an alphabetical list in the front of the volume. If you look up HIB, you will find Hibbett, George W., ed. The Dolphin Book of Speeches. ... 1965. You would then look in the library catalog to see whether Chemeketa has that book. The number after the colon in the code is the page number in the book.

Chemeketa subscribes to this magazine. Full text speeches from May 1990 to the present are also available in EBSCOhost. Vital Speeches of the Day is indexed by subject and key words in EBSCOhost on Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, MAS FullTEXT Ultra and MasterFILE Premier databases. There is also an Author and Topic index in the November 15 issue of each year. You can check out a paper issue from the library for one week.

Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents

Chemeketa does not subscribe to the paper version. Full text articles from January 1995 to the present are available in EBSCOhost on Academic Search Premier, MAS FullTEXT Ultra and MasterFILE Premier databases. Not all articles are speeches, but most are speeches by the U.S. President. The Weekly Compilation is also available on the Web at http://www.gpoaccess.gov/wcomp/index.html.

1. Go to Search.com - http://www.search.com/.

2. In the search space, type the name of the famous speaker you want in quotation marks (for example, "Helen Keller") and click the Search button.

3. When your search appears, scroll to the bottom of the page and click in the box next to "Search within these results." In the search space itself, type the word "speech" and click the Search button.

With any luck, you'll find one or more speeches in the results.
